3、l11,2006]Abstract:TheeffectsoftemperatureandpressureonthesteamreformingofmethanefCH4+H2O{=3H2+CO)wereinvestigatedinamembranereactor(MR)withahydrogenpermeablemembrane.Thestudiesusedanovelsilica-basedmembranepreparedbyusingthechemicalvapordepositionfCVD1tech-niquewitha

4、permeanceforH2of6.0x10—mol?m一.s一.Pa~at923K.Theresultsinapacked—bedreactor(PBR)werecomparedtothoseofthemembranereactoratvarioustemperaturesf773—923K)andpressures(1-20atm,i01.3—2026.5kPa)usingacommercialNi/MgA1204catalyst.Theconversionofmethanewasimprovedsignificantlyi

5、ntheMRbythecountercurrentremova1ofhydrogenatalltern—peraturesandallowedproductyieldshigherthantheequilibriumtobeobtained.Pressurehadapositiveeffectonthehydrogenyieldbecauseoftheincreaseindrivingforceforthepermeanceofhydrogen.Theyieldofhydrogenincreasedwithpressureand

6、reachedavalueof73x10—0mo1.g一.s一at2026.5kPaand923Kwhichwashigherby108%thanthevalueof35x10—0mo1.g一.s一obtainedfortheequilibriumyield.Theresultsobtainedwiththesilica-basedmembraneweresimilartothoseobtainedwithvariousothermembranesasreportedintheliterature.Keywords:steamr
