2、theyaremeresuppositions.OutofthemalltheconjectureofDr.Jebbbestcommendsitselftomyownmind,thoughitwouldbequiteconsistentwiththissuggestiontobelievethattheseriesofsongsarrangedbyDavidbecamethePilgrimPsalmsofafterages,andwerechantedbytheLord'speopleastheywentuptothetemp
3、le.Theyare"SongsoftheGoingsUp;"sosomereadtheword.ThosewhodelighttospiritualizeeverythingfindhereAscentsoftheSoul,orlanguagefittedtodescribetherisingofthehealtfromthedeepestgrieftothehighestdelight.Ihavethoughtitwelltoindicatethemethodsbywhichlearnedmenhavetriedtoexp
4、laintheterm"SongsofDegrees,"butthereadermustselecthisowninterpretation.—C.H.S.InthethirteenthchapteroftheFirstBookofChronicles,itisrelated,thatDavidbroughtuptheArkfromKirjath-jearimtothehouseofObed-edom.Theword(hjlu)usedintheseventhverse,for"bringingup"theArk,isofth
