2、onofthisavirulentvirus(felineentericcoronavirus)toavirulenttype(FIPvirus)canleadtoFIPincidence.ItisdifÞculttodiag-noseFIP,sincethevirusescannotbedistinguishedusingserologicalorvirologicalmethods.Recently,genetictechniques,suchasRT-PCR,havebeenconductedforFIPdia

5、.FCoVistransmittedbythefecal-oralrouteandusuallycausesamildtoinapparententeritis[2].FIPisconsideredtobeinducedbyavirulentmutant(FIPvirus;FIPV)ofthisentericFCoV(felineentericcoronavirus;FECV)[2,3].TheincidenceofFIPisgenerallyaslowas1Ð3%inFCoV-infectedcats,though
6、itvariesdependingonage,breed,environment,andsuperinfectionwithotherviruses[2,4Ð6].Itisdividedintotwobasicclinicalforms,effusiveFIP,inwhicheffusionisobservedinthebodycavity,andnon-effusiveFIP,inwhichmultiplepyogranulomalesionsareobserved,thoughdiffer-encesinlesi
