3、andsupplementingTitle18A(theEducationCode.)2C:16-1,BiasIntimidation,hasbeenamendedtospecificallyprovidethat“genderidentityorexpression”and“nationalOrigin”arewithintheprotectedclassessetforthinthestatute.Inaddition,theoutdatedterm“handicap”hasbeenreplacedwiththemoremodernterm,“disab
4、ility.”NewPenaltieshavealsobeenadded,wherebyacourtmayorderapersonconvictedofBiasIntimidationto:completeaclassorprogramonsensitivitytodiversecommunities,orothersimilartrainingintheareaofcivilrights;completeacounselingprogramintendedtoreducethetendencytowardviolentandantisocialbehavi
5、or;ormakepaymentsorothercompensationtoacommunity-basedprogramthatprovidesservicestovictimsofbiasintimidation.BiaSINTIMIDATION(2C:16-1)BiasIntimidation.Apersonisguiltyofthecrimeofbiasintimidationifhecommits,attemptstocommit,conspireswithanothertocommit,orthreatenstheimmediatecommiss
