2、therealmofeconomics,foritcanbeexplainedusingtheattributesofbehavioraleco-nomics.Behavioraleconomics,whichtriestoimprovetheassumptiverealismofeconomictheory,andobjectstotheneoclassicalacceptanceofthesimplisticeconomicmodelofrationalagentsexhibit-ingoptimizingbehavior,isce
3、rtainlycapableofexplainingthedecisionofmultinationalenterprisesmakinginvestmentdecisionswhentheyfacethecomplexanduncertaininternationalenvironment.ItisinthisspiritthatIhavetriedtomodeltheFDIdecisionusingtheattributesofbehavioraleconomics.However,beforepresentingthisbehav
4、ioraleconomicsmodelofFDIdecisions,Idiscusstheprob-lemsthatneoclassicaleconomicsfacedinexplainingthenewrealityofFDI/internationalproductionafterWorldWarII,whenneoclassicaleconomistsutilizedtheunrelatedarbitragetheoryofportfolioflowstoexplainit.IdoalsoStephenHymerscritiqueo
5、fthatattempt,andhisattempttoexplainFDIdecision,whichhelpeditmoveoutsideoftherealmofeconomics.IdoalsoreviewanddiscussthevariousFDItheoriesthatemerged,afterthe1960dissertationofHymer,intheworksofDunning,Buckley,Casson,Markusen,andotherspresentedastransactioncost,internaliz
