6、ule^.^.^aswellasasubstantialproportionofthesurfaceresi-dues.6itislikelythatcertainreverseturnsproviderecognitionsitesfortheinitiationofcompleximmunological,endocrinological,ormetabolicreactions.Theidentifica-tionofreverseturnconformationsinvariouspeptidehormone
7、sisalsocompatiblewiththissuggestion.Further,globularproteinchains,themselveslinearpolymers,areknowntofoldintolowenergyconformations.'Inordertoachievetheseconformations,whichresultintheformationofcompactglobularproteins,thechainfrequentlychangesdirectionduringth
