4、737whenthepoliticalcensorshipoftheLicensingActwentintoeffect.Hethentookuplawandwascalledtothebarin1740.•Meanwhilehehadnotgivenupwriting.In1739appearedTheChampion,anewspaperpublishedthriceaweek,andwrittenmainlybyFielding.•In1745hewasappointedJusticeofthePeaceforWestminsterand
5、thenMiddlesex,apositionthatbroughthimlittleincomebutmuchrenown,forheservedasanhonest,uprightandefficientmagistrate.•In1754hebecameveryill;heleftEnglandforLisbon,Portugalbutneverreturned.PointsofView•Fieldingwasverysympathetictowardthepoorandunfortunate,andprotestedstronglyag
