7、mentofnewwaysofdigging，thecityandSouthLondonRailwaylinkedotherplacesinLondon.Butitwasstillinconvenienttotravelontheselinesbecauseeachlinewasseparatelyownedandmanywereveryfarfromeachother.Havingseenthesituation，CharlesYerkes，awealthyAmericabusinessman

8、triedtoimprovethesystembybuyingmanyofthedifferentlinesandsettinguptheUndergroundGroup.In1933，apublicorganizationcalledtheLondonPassengerTransportBoardwascreated.Between1918and1938，therewasmuchexpansionasnewconnectionswerebuiltandnewstationswerebuilt.
