2、edtoLi-ionbatteries.AccumulateddatafrominsituXRD,insituAFM,SEM,andelectrochemicalmeasurementsofgraphiteelectrodescomprisingdifferenttypesofgraphiteparticles(intermsofmorphologyand3Dstructure)convergetoadescriptionoffailuremechanismsofgraphiteelectrodes,whichinvolvedeac
3、tivationbyinsulatingsurfacefilmsthatsurroundcrackedparticles.Itappearsthattheperformanceofthecathodesisalso,toalargeextent,surfacefilmcontrolled.Hence,agingofLi-ionbatteriesrelatesmostlytosurfacephenomenathatincreasetheelectrodesimpedance,especiallyatelevatedtemperatures
