3、hineseandinEnglishto512menandwomenin15collegesoruniversities.Quantitativedatafromthesemistructuredandopen-endedquestionnaireweresubjectedtostatisticalanalysisattwolevels:(a)thatofcultureand(b)thatofdemographics.Qualitativedatageneratedbyverbatimstudentcommentsallowanalysisatathirdlevel:th
4、atoftheindividual.Attheculturelevel,studentsexhibitastrongtendencytowardindividualism,ratherthantowardthecollectiv-ismgenerallyassociatedwithtraditionalChinesesociety.T-testsandchi-squareproceduresdemonstratethatmalesandfemales,youngerandolderstudents,Englishmajorsandnon-Englishmajorsdo-q
