4、istingswasperformedtogleandatafromrecentlypublishedseriesreportingprenataldiag-nosisofthevariousanomaliesandtheirassociatedmalformations.Results.Anomaliesofthehumanfetalvenoussystemoccursporadically,oftenassociatedwithcardiacorothermalformations.Thepathophysiolog
5、icmechanismsleadingtoabnormalinuterodevelopmentofthehumanvenoussys-temremainlargelyundetermined.Onthebasisofthetypeofveininvolved,embryologicprecursor,andetiologiccorrelation(primaryorsecondary),classificationinto4majorgroupsisdescribed.Conclusions.Prenatalevalua
6、tionoffetusesfoundtohaveanomaliesofthevenoussystemshouldincludeacarefulsearchforcardiacanomalies,includingpulmonaryvenousdrainage,andadetailedanatomicsurveyoftheumbilical,portal,hepatic,andductalsystemstodetermineaberrantcommu-nicationand,ifpossible,todiscoverclu
