3、tilizingpolyunsaturatedfattyacidssuchasDocosahexanoicacid(DHA)havebookedpromisingresults.GiventhecloserelationbetweenADriskfactorsanddevelopmentandotherneurovasculardisorders,itishypothesizedthattheinfluenceofDHAenricheddietsworksprimarilybyimprovingcerebralbloodvesselhealth.Inthisexperi
4、ment,theinfluenceofputativedietssupplementedwitheitherDHAorcholesteroloncognitiveperformanceandcerebralperfusionareinvestigatedforboththeclassicalADmodel,APP/PS1mice,aswellasfortwomodelsofvascularfactorsinAD,theApoE4andApoEKOmiceat10-12monthsofage.Ourresultsshowthepredictedcognitiveimpai
5、rmentsofAPP/PS1andApoE4,butnotforApoEKOmice.Cerebralperfusionisfoundtobeimpairedinallthreetransgenicgenotypes,mostnotablyintheAPP/PS1andApoEKOmice.Noconsistenteffectsofourdietaryinterventionarefound.FromthisweconcludethatApoE4andApoEKOmiceareavalidmodelforvascularADfactors.Wealsoconclude
6、thattheeffectsofpreventivedietaryinterventionsarenotyetvisibleattheearlystagesofdiseaseprogression.IntroductionAlzheimer’sDiseaseAlzheimer’sDisease(AD)isoneofthemostcommonneurodegenerativediseasesinwesternsociety.Anestimated15millionpeopleworldwidesufferfromADatthistime(Alz.Org.2009).Int
