3、.IntroductionReadingisoneofthefourthbasicskillsofEnglish.However,inmiddleschool,thesituationofstudents’readingabilityisfarfrombeingsatisfactory.Formanystudents,theyareafraidofreadingandmostofthemshowlittleinterestsinreadingfortheEnglishreadingistooboring.In
4、ordertosearchforarightwaytosolvetheproblem,Ihavebeendevotedtosearchforaneffectiveteachingmethodtoimprovestudents’readingabilities.InChina,thereexistsacommonproblemtoourstudents,thatis,althoughmanystudentshaveacquiredfourskills:listening,speaking,readingandw
5、ritingaccordingtothedemandofourtraditionalsyllabus,theyoftenmakemistakesinapplicationoflanguageinreallife.Eventheycanmakeupgrammaticallyandsemanticallycorrectsentences,whicharenotappropriateorfeasibleinthedailycommunication;what’sworse,sometimesitwillviolat
6、eculturalprincipleinthetargetlanguagecommunity,andthuscommunicativefailureoccursattimes.ThereasonisthatmodernEnglishteachersoftenignoreculturalteachingandspendalotoftimeinEnglishlanguageteaching.II.TheproblemsexistinginEnglishreadinginMiddleSchoolManystuden
7、tsseemtohavenotroubleatalllearningtoread.Evenwhenveryyoung,theybeginmakingconnectionsbetweenlettersandsounds,soundsandwords,wordsandthoughts.Forthesestudents,theprocessofreadingseemssimpleandnatural.Forotherstudents,however,learningtoreadisacontinuousstrugg
