3、lationaretoexchangeideasandculture.Translationpromotesunderstandingamongdifferentcountriesandnations.Intranslationtheprincipleof“seekingthecommongroundwhilereservingdifferences”1shouldbepracticed.Translationshouldreflectalienthingsinastrangelandthata

6、sn’tit?”,etc.Whenmeetingafriendwhohasjustarrivedafteralongjourney,theChinesewouldusuallysay,“Youmusthavehadatiringjourney.”TheWesternerwouldaskinstead,“Didyouhaveanicetrip?”or“Didyouenjoyyourtrip?”ThefactthatinChinese,manyconversationsstartwith“Howol
7、dareyou?”“Areyoumarried?”“What’syourjob?”“Howmuchdoyouearn?”maydisconcertaWesternreader,andmanycausetemporaryculturalshock.B.CulturerelatedtothelinguisticsystemCulturemaysometimesbetracedtothelinguistic,especiallysemanticstructuresofalanguage.Themost
