5、rwithrespecttoeachotherandthattheyoccuronlyoncepercellcycle.Moreover,thesediscontinuouseventsmustbecoordinatedwithcontinuouseventssuchascellgrowth,inordertomaintainnormalcellsize(reviewedinref.1).Significantadvancesinunderstandingsuchcellcyclecontrolshavearisenfrom
6、thestudyoftheseyeasts.Theuseofyeastasamodelsystemforstudyingthecellcycleprovidesanumberofadvan-tages:yeastsaresingle-celled,rapidlydividingeukaryotesthatcanexistinthehaploidform.Thusyeastarereadilyamenabletopowerfulgeneticanalyses,andmoleculartoolsareavailable(revi
