5、ingit.Researchintomisconceptionsandproblemsolvinginchemistryilluminatesthisdifficulty(Bodner,1991;Kind,2004;Nakleh,1992).Thestrugglewithchemistryextendsbeyondthestudentstotheteachersofchemistry–teachinganabstract,complexsubject,andmakingitaccessible,relevantandapplicabletostu
6、dents,ischallenging(Gabel,1999).Theauthorsknowthisfromexperienceinteachingintroductorychemistrytocollegestudentsandhearthisanecdotallyfromcolleaguesteachinginmiddleandhighschools.teachers’attitudestowardteachingchemistrycanbejustascriticaltostudentsuccessastheirknowledgeofthe
