2、ntenceisvieefacts.AsforTransformational-Generative(TG)Grammar,passivevoiceinsyntaxisonlyaderivedformoftheactivevoice,expressingthesamemeaningastheactiveone.Furthermore,itistakenforgrantedthatthepassivevoiceissemanticallysynonymousostEFLlearnersasmar.Hobleinvoiceconception
3、.Ifmar(Langacker,1987;Goldberg,1995/2006)fortheconstrualofactive-passivealteration,thepassivestructureisregardedasaconstructioncharacterizedbyaspecialpragmaticmeaning,anditisdifferentfromitsactivestructure.ore,Goldberg(1995:45)holdsthatapassivestructureisnotderivedoutofit
4、sactivestructureviatransformation.The“choice”ofpassivestructureoveritscorrelativeactiveismeaning-basedandcruciallypliesicconstrualoftheparticipantrolesinvolvedintheeventdepicted.Accordingtotheviemar,ConstrualOperationsisoneofthemostinetheindinlanguageongdifferentpossiblea
5、lternatives.Theterm“construal”referstothementalprocessofselectingoneconceptualexpressioninsteadofanotheranylinguists,fromhomeandabroad,havestudiedthesemanticasymmetryintheEnglishvoice.Theirresearcheschallengeandoverturnthepreviousmonconceptthatactiveandpassivesentencesare
6、synonymous,makingsemanticasymmetryadifferentschools.Hoanyofthestudiesmainlyfocusonthedescriptionandroughillustrationonsuchphenomenon.prehensiveclassificationandin-depthanalysisareseldomtouchedupon.Inaddition,thepreviousstudiesrarelyconcernL2acquisitionofsemanticasymmetryb
7、eteanticasymmetryintheE-->nglishvoicefromtheperspectiveofthegrammaticalrecipient(i.e.,RecipientSemanticAsymmetry,hereinafter“RSA”)andisintendedtoinvestigatetheeffectofthecognitiveapproachonL2acquisitionoftheRSAintheEnglishvoicebyChineseEFLlearners.Itisexpectedthatthisstud
