4、hgeneGS5.ChinJRiceSci,2016,30(5):487G492.Abstract:Asamajorcomponentofricegrainshape,thegrainwidthisanimportanttraitwhichiscorrelatedwiththericeyieldandquality.BasedonthealignmentofgeneGS5genomicDNAsequence,twofunctionalmarkersweredevelopedbasedontwomissensepolymor
5、phisms(ACC/CTAintheexon2,A/Cintheexon9,respectively).Subsequently,themarkerswereusedtoidentifythegenotypesofgeneGS5inthe294accessionsofariceminiGcorecollectionand65japonicavarietiesreleasedinJiangsuProvincefrom2007to2013.Wefoundthattheallelicvariationsatthetwotarg
6、etlocihadsignificantorextremelysignificantdifferencesinthegrainshapetraits(grainlength,grainwidthandratiooflengthtowidth).BasedonthetwovariationsitesofgeneGS5,fourhaplotypes(combinations)werefoundinthericeminiGcorecollection,andhadextremelysignificanteffectongrain
7、width,grainthicknessandratiooflengthtowidthintheindicagroup,andongrainwidthandratiooflengthtowidthinthejaponicagroup,respectively.WhileinjaponicavarietiesreleasedbyJiangsu,onlytwohaplotypes,Hap1(representedby64varieties)andHap2(representedbyonevariety)werefound.Th
8、eresultswilllayafoundationfortheapplicationoftheusefulalGlelicvariationsorhaplotypesofgeneGS5tothericeyieldandqualitybreedingprogram.Keywords:rice;grain
