1、AnAnalysisoftheFormationandSocialCommunicativeFunctionofEnglishEuphemism浅谈英语委婉语的构成及社会交际功能摘要：随着社会的进步，人类文明的发展，语言交际作为人类得以维系社会关系的重要手段更加突出，因而人们在交际中通常避免使用引起双方不快从而损害双方关系的语言，而是采取迂回曲折的方法来表达思想，交流信息。这不仅是种语言现象，而且是社会现象和文化现象。本文从社会学，心理学对英语委婉语进行了较为全面的分析，着重介绍了英语委婉语的构成及社会交际功能。通过充分理解英语委婉语的构成和功能，进一步理解英语语言文化，以避免

2、社会交际中的各种冲突。论文从三方面入手。首先给出了英语委婉语的定义，让我们更好的了解这篇文章。随后作者分别从修辞意义和语义学方面阐述了英语委婉语的构成。其中修辞意义又从隐喻的转换，省略和拟人上写。而语义学则从外来语，迂回法和词义的扩大或缩小上写。最后，本文又通过其避讳功能、礼貌功能，掩饰功能以及言语得体功能四方面阐释了英语委婉语在社会生活中的运用。该部分主要是从社会心理学的角度结合英语国家的民族心里和民族文化等特点具体分析哪些方面的话要“旁敲侧击”。通过本文的写作，了解委婉语，有助于我们更深入的了解英语国家人们的思维方式、社会价值观、道德观以及文化风俗，对于提高自身言语交际功能
