2、息。这不仅是种语言现象，而且是社会现象和文化现象。本文从社会学，心理学对英语委婉语进行了较为全面的分析，着重介绍了英语委婉语的构成及社会交际功能。通过充分理解英语委婉语的构成和功能，进一步理解英语语言文化，以避免社会交际中的各种冲突。论文从三方面入手。首先给出了英语委婉语的定义，让我们更好的了解这篇文章。随后作者分别从修辞意义和语义学方面阐述了英语委婉语的构成。其中修辞意义又从隐喻的转换，省略和拟人上写。而语义学则从外来语，迂回法和词义的扩大或缩小上写。最后，本文又通过其避讳功能、礼貌功能，掩饰功能以及言语得体功能四方面阐释
