3、tion.Thischapterwillbegintolayoutthetangibledefinitionsthatarenecessaryforbridgingthisgapinknowledgeandinapplication.Inordertoachievethiswemustdirectlyaddressthequestionofhowbesttoclassifythesematerials.Classificationsystemsandrelatedtaxonomiesareusefulnotonlyforsimplecategorizationanddescription
4、purposes,buttheycaninvariablysuggestmorefar-reachingfundamentalconstructsofafield.Thispreceptisparticularlyimportantinourcurrentcontextinwhichthesmartmaterialsfieldisjustemerging.Examiningthestructureofdifferentclassificationsformaterialswillhelpustoplacesmartmaterialswithinabroadercontext.Afterr
