1、24NetworksandclaimsFromthecontractor’spointofview,oneofthemostuseful(andlucrative)applicationsofnet-workpresentationariseswhenitisnecessarytoformulateclaimsforextensionoftime,disruptiontoanticipatedsequencesordelaysofequipmentdeliveries.Thereisnomoreconvincingsystemthananetworktos
2、howaprofessionalconsultanthowhislatesupplyofdesigninformationhasadverselyaffectedprogresson-site,orhowalatedeliveryhasdisruptedthepreviouslystatedmethodofconstruction.Itis,ofcourse,self-evidentthattomakethefullestuseofthenetworkforclaimpurposes,themethodofconstructionmusthavebeenp
3、re-viouslystated,preferablyalsoinnetworkform.Thewisecontractorwillincludeanetworkshowingtheanticipatedsequenceswithhistender,andindicateclearlythedeadlinesbywhichdrawings,detailsandequipmentarerequired.Inmostcasesthenetworkwillbeacceptedasafairrepresentationoftheconstructionpro-gr
4、amme,butitispossiblethattheclientorconsultantwilltrytoindemnifyhimselfbysuchstatementsthathe(theconsultant)doesnotnecessarilyacceptthenetworkastheonlylogicalNetworksandclaimssequenceofoperations,etc.Thereforeitisuptothecontractortousehisskillsandexperiencetoconstructtheworksinthel
5、ightofcircumstancesprevailingatthetime.Suchvagueattemptstoforestallgenuineclaimsfordisruptioncarrylittleweightinaseriousdiscussionamongreasonablepeople,andcountevenlessshouldtheclaimbetakentoarbitration.Thecontractorisentitledtoreceivehisaccess,drawingsandfreeissueequipmentinaccor
6、dancewithhisstatedmethodofconstruction,assetoutinhistender,andalltheexcusesordisclaimersbytheclientorconsultantcannotalterthisright.Thosecontractorswhohaveappreciatedthisfacilityhaveundoubtedlyprofitedhandsomelybymakingfulluseofnetworktechniques,butthesemust,ofcourse,bepreparedacc
7、urately.Toobtainthemaximumbenefitfromthenetwork,thecontractormustshowthat:1Theprogrammewasreasonableandtechnicallyfeasible;2Itrepresentedthemosteconomicalconstructionmethod;3Anydelaysinclient’sdrawingsormaterialswilleitherlengthentheoverallprogrammeorincreasecosts,orboth;4Anyaccel
