3、ts,theexperimentsandstudiesofMichaelFaradayshowedthatchangingmagneticfieldsgeneratedelectricfields.TheseresultsledJamesClerkMaxwelltoasetofequations,nowcalled“Maxwell’sequations”,thatunifyelectricityandmagnetismintoaconsistentwhole.Thiselegantandaestheticallypleasin

4、gunificationwasnotoptional.Separatetheoriesofelectricityandmagnetismwouldbeinconsistent.Anotherfundamentalunificationoftwotypesofphenomenaoccurredinthe1960’s.ToappreciatethescopeofthisunificationitisusefultorecallwhathadbeenunderstoodsincethetimeofMaxwell.AlbertEinst
