4、eachersandadministratorsfromacrossthestatemetinColumbia,Missouri.ThepurposeofthemeetingwastodiscussrequirementsforgiftedprogramsduringCycleIVoftheMissouriSchoolImprovementProgram(MSIP).Oneofthenewrequirementsinvolveshavingwrittencurriculumdocumentsforgiftedprogramsthat

5、aresupportedbystatefunds.Theneedforsuchdocumentswasnotinquestion.Sincemostgiftedcurriculumisdevelopedbyindividualteachersworkingontheirowninabuildingorsetofschools,thenatureandqualityofgiftedofferingshastendedtovarywidely.Someteachershavebuiltandrefinedtheircurriculumo

6、verthecourseofalongcareeringiftededucation.Otherteachershavefocusedongatheringresourcesratherthandocumentingcurriculum,havenotallocatedtimetoorganizetheircurriculumintoanestablishedformat,orarebrandnewtothefieldandhavehadotherpriorities.Withincreasingbudgetconcernsandg

7、rowingdemandsforaccountability,amoreconsistentcaliberofcurriculardocumentationneedstobeachievedinthestate.Inmanycases,continuedsupportforgiftedprogramswillhingeonourabilitytodocumentwhatweteachgiftedstudentsandinjustifyinghowoureffortsimpactthisuniquegroupoflearners.Th
