3、rst,thepresenceofFDIcreatesnegativeexternalitieswithinindustriesandpositiveexternalitiesbetweenindustriesthroughbackwardlinkages.Second,FDI-externalitiesarestimulatedbylargetechnologicaldifferencesbetweenFDIandMexicanfirmsandbygeographicconcentrationofindustries.
4、Third,weidentifyasubstantiallevelofregionalheterogeneityoftheexternalityimpactofFDI,inlinewiththenotionthatFDImayhavecontributedtoprocessesofchangingregionalprosperityundertradeliberalization.Thefindingsalsoimplythatmaquiladorafirmsintheborderstatesaregeneratingp
