3、)landsurfacemodeloverthewatershedoftheIllinoisRiveratWatts,Oklahoma.Hourlygrid-basedNEXRAD(NextGenerationRadar)StageIIIprecipitationdata2(approximately4£4km)wereaggregatedintimeandspacetodailyprecipitationat1/8degreeandcomparedtotheUniversityofWashington(UW)dailyprecipi
4、tationdata,whichweregriddedat1/8degreebasedonrain-gaugeprecipitationdata.ComparisonsofthetemporalcumulativeprecipitationmagnitudesindicatethattheNEXRADprecipitationissmallerthantheUWdataandtheraingaugemeasurements.HyetographsobtainedfromtheNEXRADdataingeneralappeartoben
5、arrowerwithhigherpeaks.Inaddition,theNEXRADdataarebetterincapturingtheprecipitationspatialdistributionsthantheUWdata.Investigationsofwaterfluxesbasedonsimulationsforcedbythetwotypesofprecipitationdatasetssuggestthatrealisticstreamflowsimulations,comparedtotheobserveddaily
6、streamflowattheoutletoftheIllinoisRiveratWatts,canbeobtainedifmodelparametersarecalibrated.Comparedtosoilmoistureofthetotalzone,runoffandevapotranspirationaremoresensitivetothetemporalandspatialdistributionsofprecipitation,withrunoffbeingmostsensitive.Also,runoffandevapo
7、transpirationobtainedbasedontheNEXRADprecipitationdatashowmorespatialheterogeneitiesthanthoseobtainedbyusingtheUWprecipitationdata.Moreover,themagnitudesofthecomponentsofthewaterbudgetcanbestronglyimpactedbytheVIC-3Lcalibratedparameters,buttheirspatialdistributionpatter
