2、.Thepromotiontypi-callyhasastart-dateandend-date,andthedemandduringthesedaysisrelativelyhigherthanthenormalnon-promodays.Thissituationcauseswildfluctuationsinthedemandhistoryandupsetstheforecastingmodelinuse.Thestandarddevi-ationincreasesandtheforecastcoefficientsswingoutofnormalcontro
3、l.Specialadjustmentsareneededintheforecastmodelstoovercomethefluctuations.Twoforecastmodelsaredescribedheretoaccommodatethepromotionactivity:thepromotionhorizontalmodelandthepromotiontrendmodel.Bothofthemodelsinvolvetwostages:theinitialstageandtherevisionstage.Theinitialstageisthefirst
4、estimatesofthecoefficientsofthemodel.ThisstagerequiresNhistorymonthsofdemandsandpromotionmeasures.Thecoefficientsofthemodelareestimatedusingregressionmethodswhereequalweightisgiventoeachofthehistorymonths.Therevisionstageisusedforthemonthsaftertheinitialstagewherethecoefficientsarerevi
