3、lofproficiencyinlistening.Besides,varioustestscarriedoutbyeducationalinstitutions,suchasBandFourandBandSixofCET,BandFourandBandEightofTEM,TOFLEandGREallcontainlisteningcomprehension.Therefore,improvinglisteningabilityisaproblemmostEnglishlearnersarefacedwith.2.Importanceoflisten
4、ingcomprehensionListeningcomprehensionisarathercomplexmentalprocess,anditisacentralsubjectthatlinguists,psychologistsandteachersarestudying.Listeningisoneofthefundamentallanguageskills(Bulletin,1952,citedinHui,2004).Itplaysanimportantrolebothinourdailylifeandinlanguagelearning.I
5、t'samediumthroughwhichchildren,youngpeopleandadultsgainalargeportionoftheireducation,theirinformation,theirunderstandingoftheworldandofhumanaffairs,theirideals,senseofvaluesandtheirappreciation(Arif,2005).Listeningabilityisessentialamongthefivebasicskills-listening,speaking,read
6、ing,writingandtranslating.Inforeignlanguagelearning,theimprovementoflisteningabilitycanreducethedifficultieswhichthelearnersmeetinspeaking,spellingandreading.AccordingtoGary(1975),therearefouradvantages:cognitive17advantage,efficientadvantage,affectiveadvantageandutilitarianadva
7、ntageinforeignlanguageteachingandlearningiflisteningisconsideredasthepriorityandthefirstimportance(citedinHui,2004).Tobeexact,cognitiveadvantagereferstothatlearningforeignlanguagetechniquesandknowledgebylisteningisthenaturalwayforstudents.Efficientadvantageisthatemphasisoflisten
