5、ninlargecommercialseedproductionbecauseitminimizeslabor.However,leavingtheonionsinthegroundmakesweedcontrolmorechallenging,increasestheriskofdiseasebuildup,anddoesnotallowforselectionduringseedproduction.Infall-replantedbulb-to-seedproduction,onionseedsaresowninlatespring
6、andgrowto1–2inchbulbsinearlyfall.Thesebulbsarethenpulled,selected,andreplantedinanewfieldwithinacoupleofweeks,wheretheyoverwinterandproduceseedsthefollowingyear.Likeseed-to-seedproduction,thismethodcanonlybedonewherewintertemperaturesarenotcoldenoughtokilltheoverwintering
7、onions.Theadvantagesoffall-replantedbulb-to-seedproductionarethatitallowssomeselectionofobviousoff-types,andmovingtheonionstoanewfieldmakesweedanddiseasemanagementeasier.Thethirdmethodofonionseedproductionisspring-replantedbulb-to-seedproduction.Withthismethod,onionsareso
