3、ethatareusedtoprovideinformationtoaidmakingdecisionsandmanagingafirm.Themanagementinformationsystem(MIS)isoneofthemajorcomputer-basedinformationsystems.Itspurposeistomeetthegeneralinformationneedsofallthemanagersinthefirmorinsomeorganizationalsubdivisionofthefirm.The
4、MISprovidesinformationtousersintheformofreportsandoutputsfromsimulationsbymathematicalmodels.Thereportandmodeloutputcanbeprovidedinatabularorgraphicform.EssentialComponentsofMISNamely,therearethreeessentialcomponentsfortheMIS.Theyaremanagement,informationandsystems.W
5、hat’smanagement?Traditionally,theterm"management"referstotheactivities(andoftenthegroupofpeople)involvedinthefourgeneralfunctions:planning,organizing,leadingandcontrollingoflimitedresources.Managementisthecreativeproblemsolving.Thiscreativeproblemsolvingisaccomplishe
6、dthroughfourfunctionsofmanagement.Theintendedresultistheuseofanorganization'sresourcesinawaythataccomplishesitsmissionandobjectives.Notethatthefourfunctionsrecurthroughouttheorganizationandarehighlyintegrated.Organizingisdividedintoorganizingandstaffingsothattheimpor
