2、casethepiecesarenucleotides,andthechainisastrandofDNA.PCRisanenzyme-mediatedreaction,andaswithanyenzyme,thereactionmustoccurattheenzyme'sidealoperatingtemperature.TheenzymesthatareusedforthePCRareDNA-dependentDNApolymerases(DDDP)derivedfromthermophilic(heat-loving)bacteria.Assuch,theen
3、zymesfunctionathighertempertauresthantheenzymeswecommonlyuseinthelaboratoryorhaveworkinginourbodies.TheseDNApolymerasesoperateat60-75°C,andcanevensurviveattemperaturesabove90°C.ThisisimportantbecauseapartofthePCRrequiresthatthereactionreaches~95°Casweshallsee.ApartfromtheDNApolymerase,
