5、newasmodeledafterhisdisabledgreat-aunt,AugustineJefferson,whocouldnotwalk,butwasstrongenoughtoraiseafamily.Anothernovel,AGatheringofOldMen,publishedin1983,wasmadeintoamoviein1987.HewontheNationalBookCriticsCircleAwardin1993forhisnovelALessonBeforeDying.Anumberofhisstoriesa
