3、rginiaHouseofBurgesses.HerepresentedVirginiaintheSecondContinentalCongressin1775.Thefollowingyear,hedraftedtheDeclarationofIndependencewithJohnAdams,BenjaminFranklin,RogerSherman,andRobertR.Livingston.AgainintheVirginialegislature,introducedanumberofbillsfortheestablishmentofreligiousFr
4、eedom.InJune1779,JeffersonwaselectedgovernorofVirginia.In1785hebecameministertoFrance.AsthefirstsecretaryofstateinWashington’scabinet.Jeffersonbecamevice-presidentin1796.Hebecamepresidentin1800.Inthefinal 17 years of hislife,Jefferson’smajor accomplishment was thefounding(1819)of the Un
