4、l,andprivateland.TheActisdesignedtoprotectfishhabitatandwaterquality,whileensuringthatmanagementstandardsareworkableforlandownersandoperators.In2008,theAlaskaBoardofForestryrequestedthattheDepartmentofNaturalResources’DivisionofForestry(DOF)addresslandslidehazardstopublicsafetyassociatedwi
5、thcommercialtimberharvesting.DOFconvenedaninterdisciplinarycommitteetodothescienceandtechnicalreview.Thecommitteeincludedscientistswithexpertiseinsoilscience,geology,andhydrology,alongwithstateagencystaffexperiencedinforestmanagement,roaddesignandconstruction,andFRPAimplementation.Thisgrou
6、p,theLandslideScience&TechnicalCommittee(LS&TC),waschargedwithassessingthegeographicscopeoflandslidehazardstopublicsafetyassociatedwithcommercialtimberharvestingregulatedbyFRPA,reviewingrelevantliterature,developingdefinitionsforcommonlandslideterms,andevaluatingtheFRPAbestmanagementpracti
7、cesforpreventingandminimizinglandslidesandmasswasting.RelevantpublicationsincludedinpriorFRPAbibliographiesprovidedafoundationforthelandslidebibliography.Inaddition,LS&TCmembersidentifiedadditionalpublisheddocumentsandunpublishedstudiesthatexpandedthiswork.The
