4、omponentssuchasresistors,capacitorsandopampstoproducetherequiredfilteringeffect.Suchfiltercircuitsarewidelyusedinsuchapplicationsasnoisereduction,videosignalenhancement,graphicequalisersinhi-fisystems,andmanyotherareas.Therearewell-establishedstandardtechniquesfordesigningananalogfilt
5、ercircuitforagivenrequirement.Atallstages,thesignalbeingfilteredisanelectricalvoltageorcurrentwhichisthedirectanalogueofthephysicalquantity(e.g.asoundorvideosignalortransduceroutput)involved.Adigitalfilterusesadigitalprocessortoperformnumericalcalculationsonsampledvaluesofthesignal.Th
6、eprocessormaybeageneral-purposecomputersuchasaPC,oraspecialisedDSP(DigitalSignalProcessor)chip.TheanaloginputsignalmustfirstbesampledanddigitisedusinganADC(analogtodigitalconverter).Theresultingbinarynumbers,representingsuccessivesampledvaluesoftheinputsignal,aretransferredtotheproces
