4、urselection.InordertoimprovetheperformanceofthetraditionalSnakemodelforconcavitysegmentation,anewexternalforcebasedonthelocalcurvatureofthediscretecontourandatwo—stageSnake—basedalgorithmareproposed.Thelocalcurvatureofthediscretecontour,whichcharacterizesthebendingofacontourassociatedwithadire
5、ction,isdefinedusingthecenteroftheinscribedcircleofthetrianglederivedfromthreeconseeutivecontournodes.ThefirststageofthenewmethodisatraditionalSnake,andinthesecondstagethenewforcewoulddrivethecontourintotheconcaveregion.ThisnewforcecanalsobegeneralizedtoenlargethecapturerangeoftheSnakemode1.In
