2、OBJECTIVE：Tumorsuppressorgenephospha-taseandtensinhomologydeletedonchromosometen(PTEN)wasfirstreportedin1997andhasbecomeahotspotshortlyafterdiscovery.mutationsofPTENgeneinhumanhepatocellularcarcinomas(HCCs)havebeenexaminedbyseveralgroupsabroad,whilelittleisknownaboutexpressionof

3、PTENinHCCs.lthasbeenbelievedthatp53mutationplaysaroleintheoncogenesisofHCCs.However,divergenceexistasregardstherelationshipbetweenp53mutationandsomebiologicalbehaviorsofHCCs.ThecurrentstudywasdesignedtoinvestigatethecorrelationsofexpressionofPTENandmutantp53withcarcinogenesisand

4、tumorprogressionofHCCs.METHODS:Sixty-twoparaffin-embeddedhepatocellularcarcinomasampleswerecomposedandallthetissuesectionsincludedbothHCCandsurroundingnon-tumorlivertissues.ExpressionofPTENandmutantp53wasexaminedusingSPimmunohistochemicaltechnigue.RESULTS:Allsixty-twosamplesshow

5、eddecidedlypositivestainingofPTENinsurroundingnon-tumorlivertissues(plasma).While,onlytwenty-ninetumorsweredetectedpositivestainingofPTEN(46.8%).TheexpressionlevelofPTENinHCCsampleswithoutinvasivenessorwithcompletecapsulewashigherthanthatinHCCsampleswithinvasivenessorwithoutcomp
