4、sections:①thelaboratoryandfieldtestingresearchonthedamageassessment;②analyticaldevelopmentsofdamagedetectionmethods,including(a)signatureanalysisandpatternrecognitionapproaches,(b)modelupdatingandsystemidentificationapproaches,(c)neuralnetworksapproaches;and③sensorsandtheiroptimum
5、placements.Thepredominanceandshortcomingsofeachmethodarecomparedandanalyzed.Recentexamplesofimplementationofstructuralhealthmonitoringanddamageidentificationaresummarizedinthispaper.Thekeyproblemofbridgehealthmonitoringisdamageautomaticdetectionanddiagnosis,anditisthemostdifficult
