3、gedassignificant.Thisisaresultthatcorrespondstoexpectations,giventhatfoodsandbeveragesaretheprimarysourceofdemandinthetourismeconomy.Hence,investmentsinagriculturaltechnologymayfomentlinkageswiththetourismmarket.Itisalsoworthmentioningthatforsignificantbackwardli
4、nkagestoemergewithlocalagriculture,alargerscaleoftourismmaybeimportant.Accordingtotheregressionresults,astrongtourism–agriculturenexuswillnotnecessarilydevelopatasmallscaleoftourismdemand.Itappearsthatvariablesrelatedtotheentrepreneurialcapitalofthehosteconomyare
5、ofnotableexplanatorysignificance.Thehumandevelopmentindex(HDI),whichisusedtomeasureacountry'sgenerallevelofdevelopment,issignificantlyandpositivelyassociatedwithtourismlinkages.Oneplausibleexplanationforthisisthatinternationaltourists,whooftenoriginateinhigh-inco
6、mecountries,mayfeelmorecomfortableandthusbeinclinedtoconsumemoreinahostcountrythathasalife-styletowhichtheycanrelateeasily.Moreover,itisimportanttorememberthattheHDIalsocapturestherelativeachievementsofcountriesinthelevelofhealthandeducationofthepopulation.Theref
7、ore,ahigherHDIreflectsahealthierandmoreeducatedworkforce,andthus,thequalityoflocalentrepreneurship.Relatedtothispoint,itisimportanttounderscorethatthelevelofparticipationofwomeninthehosteconomyalsohasasignificantlypositiveeffectonlinkages.Insum,enhancinglocalentr
