3、preadaroundthe(SARS)isarecentlyemergedinfectionfromanovelworldatanalarmingratein2months.AsofMay31,coronavirus(CoV).Apartfromfeverandrespiratorycom-2003,SARShasbeendescribedin32countriesaffectingplications,gastrointestinalsymptomsarefrequentlyob-8360individualsand
4、causing764deaths.3TheoverallservedinpatientswithSARSbutthesignificancere-mortalityforthisillnessisabout16%inHongKong1mainsundetermined.Herein,wedescribetheclinical,andcanbeashighas43%inelderlypatients.4Shortlypathologic,andvirologicfeaturesoftheintestinalin-afterth
5、edescriptionofthisdisease,anovelformofvolvementofthisnewviralinfection.Methods:Aretro-coronavirus,namedtheSARS-CoV,thatdoesnotcloselyspectiveanalysisofthegastrointestinalsymptomsandotherclinicalparametersofthefirst138patientswithresembleanyofthe3previouslyknowngrou
6、psofcoro-confirmedSARSadmittedforamajoroutbreakinHongnaviruseswasidentifiedtobethecausativeagent.5,6ThisKonginMarch2003wasperformed.Intestinalspeci-viruscanbedetectedbycultureandpolymerasechainmenswereobtainedbycolonoscopyorpostmortemreaction(PCR)frommostpatientswit
7、hSARS,andspe-examinationtodetectthepresenceofcoronavirusbycificantibodiesagainstthisnewviruscanalsobeshownelectronmicroscopy,virusculture,andreverse-transcrip-intheinfectedhost.Furthermore,amonkeyinoculationtionpolymerasechainreaction.Results:Amongtheseexperimentpr
