4、gsindicatedthatinbothratstrainsbrain-inliltratingleukocytesconsistedmainlyofCD8+Tlymphocytes.Here,wephenotypicallyaswellasfunctionallycharacterisedthisTcellsubset&erisolationfromthecentralnervoussystem(CNS).UsingJHMV-infectedtargetcells,MHCclassIrestricted,cytotoxicTlymphocytesw
5、eredemonstratedtobepresentintheleukocytefractionfromtheCNSofboth,susceptibleLEWanddisease-resistantBNrats.However,comparedtoinfected,buthealthyBNrats,diseasedLEWratsgeneratedanenhancedcytotoxicimmuneresponsewhichbecamemostprominentatthemaximumofneurologicaldisease.Recentlypublis
6、hedobservationsfromourlaboratorydemonstratedastrongvirus-specificantibodyresponseintheCNSofBNForpersonaluseonly.rats.InLEWrats,however,theresponsewasdelayedandoflowmagnitude.Thissuggests,thatconsequencesofcytotoxicTlymphocyteactioninJHMV-infectedCNStissuelargelydependontheeffica
