3、,30Kand34K(M23toM34)whichhavebeenshowntogivethesamepeptidemaps,differedintheirdegreeofglycosylation;M23wasnotglycos'ylatedwhileglycosylationincreasedwithincreasingmol.wt.fromM26toM34.BothglucosamincandmannosewerecomponentsofM26toM34but[3H]fucoseappear
4、edtobeassociatedmainlywithM34.Endo-/~-N-acetylglucosaminidaseHremovedoligosaccharidesfromM28andM30butnotM26andM34,togiveapolypeptideof23K.ThesurfaceprojectionglycopolypeptidesSI(90K)and$2(84K)incorporated3H-labelledglucosamineandmannoscbutnotfucoseand
5、hadoligosaccharidesremovedbyendoglycosidaseH.Thetool.wt.oftheresultantpolypeptidesvariedamongexperiments;thelowestmol.wt.observedwere64Kand61K.Theseresultsindicate(i)thatthepolypeptidemoietiesoftheSpolypcptidesareapproximately64Kand61K,and23KfortheMpo
6、lypeptide,(ii)thattheoligosaccharidesoftheSandMpolypeptidesareofthehigh-mannosetypeandarelinkedtothepolypeptidesbyN-glycosidiclinkages,and(iii)thattheMglycoproteinofIBVdiffersfromthatofmurinccoronaviruscsandbovinecoronavirusL9whichhaveO-linkedoligosac
7、charides.Avianinfectiousbronchitisvirus(IBV)appearstohavethreeproteinstructuralelements:surfaceprojections(S),anucleocapsid(N)proteinandamatrix/membrane(M)protein(Cavanagh,1981).Twoofthese,SandM,areglycosylated(Cavanagh,1981;Lomniczi&Morser,1981;Wadey
