2、rprogrammingcourses.Webrieflydescribethearchitectureofthesystem,andpresentresultsofevaluatingthesysteminrealexaminationsituations.Someofthefactorsstudiedindetailaretheon-lineinteractionsbetweenthestudentsandexaminers,theresponsetimesandtheireffectsonthepressureexperiencedbystudent,theac

3、ceptanceofthemethodamongthestudents,andwhethertheexaminationformisgender-neutral.IntroductionAsexperiencedteachersinprogrammingcourseswehavenoticedthedrawbacksinthetraditionalexaminationformusedinprogrammingcourses.Thestudentslearntoprogramvialaboratoryexercises,butthefinalevaluationoft

4、heirabilitiesandthegradingoftheexaminationareinaformthatusespaperandpeninsteadofcomputers.Consideringthatthestudentwillneverusethismodeforproducingaprogramthroughtheprofessionallife,weconsiderthistobenotasuitablemethod.AttheDepartmentofComputerScienceatLink?pingUniversity12fundamentalpr

5、ogrammingcoursesforapproximately1000studentsindifferenteducationalprogramsaretaughtannually.Thispaperdealswithanewpedagogicalviewintheseprogrammingcourses,whichcanbeappliedtoanyprogramminglanguage,typeofstudentandeducationalprogram.Theideaisbasedonextensivestudiesarounddifferentexaminat

6、ionforms,whereindividualgrading,efficientandusefulfeedbackandtheauthenticityoftheexaminationformareusedasbasiccriteriaforthechoiceofexaminationmethod.Webelievethatthechoiceofmethodtogetherwiththeaddedefficiencyintheassessmentprocessimprovesthequalityofourstudyprogrammes.Inparticular,web
