3、does,however,indicatetheartist'sintentionofdepictingmotion.Earlyexamplesofattemptstocapturethephenomenonofmotiondrawingcanbefoundinpaleolithiccavepaintings,whereanimalsaredepictedwithmultiplelegsinsuperimposedpositions,clearlyattemptingtoconveytheperceptionofmotion.
4、FiveimagessequencefromavasefoundA5,000yearoldearthenbowlfoundinIran.Ithasfiveimagesofagoatpaintedalongthesides.Thishasbeenclaimedtobeanexampleofearlyanimation.However,sincenoequipmentexistedtoshowtheimagesinmotion,suchaseriesofimagescannotbecalledanimationinatruesen
5、seoftheword.AChinesezoetrope-typedevicehadbeeninventedin180 AD.Thephenakistoscope,praxinoscope,andthecommonflipbookwereearlypopularanimationdevicesinventedduringthe19thcentury.Thesedevicesproducedtheappearanceofmovementfromsequentialdrawingsusingtechnologicalmeans,b
6、utanimationdidnotreallydevelopmuchfurtheruntiltheadventofcinematography.AnEgyptianburialchambermural,approximately4000yearsold,showingwrestlersinaction.Eventhoughthismayappearsimilartoaseriesofanimationdrawings,therewasnowayofviewingtheimagesinmotion.Itdoes,however,
