4、oricallyfocusedonendinghunger.Thesegovernmentsproductivealsomaketheirmustunderstandthatthefactorsmakingcitiesresidentspronetoobesity.Urbanitesenjoyaconvenientandvarietyoffood.Additionally,internationalfastfoodchainsareflourishingindevelopingcountries.The

5、healthrisksofsuchdietsarecompoundedbythesedentarylifestylesofurbandwellers.People’sleisuretimeisalsobeingoccupiedbytelevision,movies,andvideogamesinthegrowingnumberofhouseholds.Thealarmingimplicationofthesetrendsisthatdevelopingcountriesmaybecomesickbefore

6、theygetrich.Thatsicknessmay,inturn,cripplehealthsystems.TheyearlyhealthcarecostsinSoutheastAsiaofobesity-relatedcomplicationslikediabetesandcardiovasculardiseasearealreadyashighasUS$10billion.Suchdiseasesareanaddedburdenoncountriesalreadystrugglingtomanage

7、primaryhealthcareneeds.Policiesrelatedtotaxation,urbandesign,educationandawarenessandthepromotionoflocalisedfoodsystemsmayhelpcontrolobesityatalowercostthaneventualmedicaltreatmentforanincreasinglyoverweightpopulation.Somegovernmentshavealreadyexperimented
