4、onalknowledgeandjudgment.Theproc-essreliedonindividualexperiences,andtheresultsmaynotbesolidlyfunctionalandproven.Sofar,noexistingmethodisavailabletodirectlyguideresearcherstoreinventlostdesigns.Thepurposeofthischapteristopresentastep-by-stepprocedureforthesystematicreconstructionofallpossibletopolo
5、gicalstructuresoflostmachines,subjecttodesignrequire-mentsandconstraints.Thisprocedureutilizestheideaofcreativemecha-nismdesignmethodologytoconvergethedivergentconceptionsobtainedfromliteraturestudiestoafocusedscope.Mechanicalevolutionandthevariationmethodarethenappliedtoobtainfeasiblereconstruction
