1、METHOD6010BINDUCTIVELYCOUPLEDPLASMA-ATOMICEMISSIONSPECTROMETRY1.0SCOPEANDAPPLICATION1.1Inductivelycoupledplasma-atomicemissionspectrometry(ICP-AES)determinestraceelements,includingmetals,insolution.ThemethodisapplicabletoalloftheelementslistedinTable1.Al
2、lmatrices,excludingfilteredgroundwatersamplesbutincludinggroundwater,aqueoussamples,TCLPandEPextracts,industrialandorganicwastes,soils,sludges,sediments,andothersolidwastes,requiredigestionpriortoanalysis.Groundwatersamplesthathavebeenprefilteredandacidi
3、fiedwillnotneedaciddigestion.Sampleswhicharenotdigestedmusteitheruseaninternalstandardorbematrixmatchedwiththestandards.RefertoChapterThreefortheappropriatedigestionprocedures.1.2Table1liststheelementsforwhichthismethodisapplicable.Detectionlimits,sensit
4、ivity,andtheoptimumandlinearconcentrationrangesoftheelementscanvarywiththewavelength,spectrometer,matrixandoperatingconditions.Table1liststherecommendedanalyticalwavelengthsandestimatedinstrumentaldetectionlimitsfortheelementsincleanaqueousmatrices.Thein
5、strumentdetectionlimitdatamaybeusedtoestimateinstrumentandmethodperformanceforothersamplematrices.ElementsandmatricesotherthanthoselistedinTable1maybeanalyzedbythismethodifperformanceattheconcentrationlevelsofinterest(seeSection8.0)isdemonstrated.1.3User
