3、plesoffreeconsentandofgoodfaithandthepactasuntservandaruleareuniversallyrecognized,Affirmingthatdisputesconcerningtreaties,likeotherinternationaldisputes,shouldbesettledbypeacefulmeansandinconformitywiththeprinciplesofjusticeandinternationallaw,Recallingthedetermi
4、nationofthepeoplesoftheUnitedNationstoestablishconditionsunderwhichjusticeandrespectfortheobligationsarisingfromtreatiescanbemaintained,HavinginmindtheprinciplesofinternationallawembodiedintheCharteroftheUnitedNations,suchastheprinciplesoftheequalrightsandself-det
5、erminationofpeoples,ofthesovereignequalityandindependenceofallStates,ofnon-interferenceinthedomesticaffairsofStates,oftheprohibitionofthethreatoruseofforceandofuniversalrespectfor,andobservanceof,humanrightsandfundamentalfreedomsforall,Believingthatthecodification
6、andprogressivedevelopmentofthelawoftreatiesachievedinthepresentConventionwillpromotethepurposesoftheUnitedNationssetforthintheCharter,namely,themaintenanceofinternationalpeaceandsecurity,thedevelopmentoffriendlyrelationsandtheachievementofcooperationamongnations,A
