3、intheearlyyearsoffootballintheUnitedStatesuntil1913,asattestedbytheAll-Americateams,butitfadedinthe1920s.IvyLeagueRelatedInformationHarvardUniversitytheoldestinstitutionofhigherlearningintheUnitedStates(founded1636)andoneofthenation’smostprestigious.Itison
4、eoftheIvyLeagueschools.ThemainuniversitycampusliesalongtheCharlesRiverinCambridge,Massachusetts,afewmileswestofdowntownBoston.Harvard’stotalenrollmentisabout20,000.privateuniversityinNewHaven,Conn.Itwasfoundedin1701andisthethirdoldestuniversityintheUnitedS
5、tates.YalewasoriginallycharteredbythecoloniallegislatureofConnecticutastheCollegiateSchoolandwasheldatKillingworthandotherlocations.In1716theschoolwasmovedtoNewHaven,andin1718itwasrenamedYaleCollegeinhonourofawealthyBritishmerchantandphilanthropist,ElihuYa
6、le,whohadmadeaseriesofdonationstotheschool.Yale’sinitialcurriculumemphasizedclassicalstudiesandstrictadherencetoorthodoxPuritanism.YaleUniversityprivateuniversitylocatedinPhiladelphia,Pennsylvania,U.S.,oneoftheIvyLeagueschoolsandtheoldestuniversityinthecou
7、ntry.Itwasfoundedin1740asacharityschool.LargelythroughtheeffortsofBenjaminFranklinandotherleadingPhiladelphians,itbecameanacademyin1751,withFranklinaspresidentofthefirstboardoftrustees.In1755itwascharteredastheCollegeandAcademyofPhiladelphia.Withthefoundat
