3、firstandsecondyearstudents).Accordingtotheauthor,thistextbookhasthefolloaterialsofreadingtouchesuponsociety,politics,economicsandcultureofEnglish-speakingcountries;thecontentisuptodateandincludesneentsandscientificandtechnologicaldevelopments,anditfocusoninterestsandvariablegenres.（2
4、）Thereadingmaterialvariesfrom1200aterialhighlightstheaimoftrainingstudents’abilitiestoacquireinformationandtextthesisstatementquickly,accuratelyandeffectively.Thistextbookconsistsof15units,eachunitfallsinto4parts:（1）Text.Inthispartthereisatextabout1200-2000ultiple-choicequestionssetf
5、ortestingstudents’abilitiesofgettingthemainideaofthetext,prehendingthetext,discussinginclassandvocabularyexercises.（2）Readingskills.Inthispart,variousreadingskillsareintroduced,and,accordingly,speciallydesignedexercisesarefolloeofreadingeachpassage.Eachpassageisfolloultiple-choiceque
6、stionstoexaminestudents’prehending.（4）Homereading.Inthispart,apassageofsimilarlengthofthetextinpartoneisprovidedforstudentstoreadafterclass.Exercisesofmultiple-choicequestionsareprovidedtoexaminestudents’prehending.Itisuniversallyacknomarandpleteprehensionofreadingmaterials,aimsatlet
